What to expect in Year 1.

In year 1 your child will build on the foundations of learning from the EYFS. They will continue to develop independence both in their work and in social skills and to take a greater responsibility for organising themselves. There is a key focus on becoming a confident and fluent reader and developing a life long love of reading. In maths your child will use practical resources to support their understanding of basic number. They will have their own log ins for the online 'Numbots' website to enjoy at home.

What to expect in Year 2.

Year 2 children will focus on becoming creative and confident writers using the skills from Year 1 to support them. We encourage them to make decisions for themselves when trying to solve problems, when working as a team and taking ownership of their own learning. In maths, your child will continue to develop mental and written calculation skills and will develop a range of strategies to solve problems. Children will have access to Times Table Rock Stars to learn and practise their times tables and become Rock Stars!
