School Uniform

School Uniform / Dress

The wearing of school uniform is strongly encouraged and it is expected that parents continue to support this policy.  Our School Uniform policy can be viewed in the Policies section on the Key Information tab.

Parents/carers may choose to purchase items of school uniform with or without the school logo. However, we do strongly encourage children to have at least one jumper/cardigan, with the school logo in order that they can be easily identified as a member of Highfields Primary School at external events such as school trips.

All uniform items can be sourced from multiple best value shops and, for non-logo items; the school does not recognise or endorse a particular supplier. For parents/carers who do wish to purchase items with the School logo on them, our branded supplier is Mapac.  Our supplier ‘Mapac Group Ltd’ sells a range of items including sweatshirts, polo shirts, tee shirts, shorts etc, all with our school logo either embroidered or printed on.  You can access the company and order on line or by post www.mapaconline.com/schools/highfieldsprimaryCO1

Pre-loved uniform items

We support the use of pre-loved items. Good condition school uniform items that are no longer required can be donated to the Friends of Highfields.  Friends of Highfields run second hand uniform sales at regular intervals during the year.

P.E. Dress

Children should wear navy, royal blue or black shorts and a t-shirt of their team colour. These t-shirts (Fruit of the Loom) can be ordered via the school office and paid for on School Gateway.

            Team colours

            Herons = Green

            Swans = Blue

            Egrets = Red

            Godwits = Yellow

In the winter months children can wear a navy, royal blue or black tracksuit/jogging bottoms and sweatshirt (non-branded) for outdoor P.E.

The school, in line with Health and Safety guidelines, positively encourages children to be barefoot in the hall. Trainers are to be worn outside.

P.E. Trainers

To support parents/carers financially, we recognise the benefits of children having one pair of trainers for combined use at home and for School P.E. days. Therefore, we do not require P.E. trainers to be black or plain in design in the same way as shoes worn as part of school uniform. However, trainers must still be suitable for physical education so must be comfortable for full daywear, protective for active feet/use in games/sports and have no parts that could harm children/distract children from learning, such as lights.

Children doing football can bring in football boots and shin pads.

Earrings and jewellery need to be removed before PE. Covering earrings with tape is not permitted.

Long hair is to be tied back.
