Welcome back to the Spring Term. We hope you have all enjoyed a good Christmas break and are looking forward to 2020.
This term our topic is Space and the 1960's. We will be learning about the solar system, the history of space travel and the life of Neil Armstrong. We will start this topic with a visit from the Space Dome! For the 1960's we will look at the differences between everyday life during that decade and our own.
For the Year 2 children we will be starting our Special Agent Training program to help to prepare them for the SATs tests in May. Attending these sessions will give your children extra confidence and help them to become familiar with the format of the tests. There was a meeting for parents on Tuesday 4th February to explain what the SATs tests are, why we have them and how to support your children during the tests. A copy of the powerpoint presentation from this meeting can be found below.
For Year 1 parents there will be a Phonics Check meeting to provide information about the checks which take place in the summer term.
Your child has also been set a homework challenge to complete before Easter which we hope we will be able to use as part of our class assemblies. Please continue to support your child's work in school by reading daily and completing spelling and maths tasks including TT Rock Stars (Year 2).
Later on in the term will be pupil progress meetings and dates will be sent out for these in the next few weeks. We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our 'Open Door' or 'Open Read' sessions and remember to please keep checking wallets for any further information that we will be sending out throughout the term.

Please find below a few helpful reminders
Please remember that your child needs to come into the school building by themselves, between 8.40am and 8.50am. Any messages can be given to the ladies on the door or a note popped into their book bags/folders. School for KS1 finishes at 3pm, please make sure you are there to collect your child at that time, and give us a big wave to make yourself known to the new class teacher. If for any reason you are running late please phone the school office to let them know. If your child is being picked up by another adult you must write a note to let us know. Your child will need to have named water bottles in school each day. Please remember to name all uniform and PE kits. PE kits will need to be in school every day as PE days will vary. These will be sent home at the end of each half term to be washed. Please refer to the uniform and PE policy for full list of uniform or ask your child’s teacher. Your child will not need plimsolls but they will need trainers.
If you are planning on having your child's ears pierced, please could you do this at the beginning of the holiday so they do not miss out on PE during the autumn term.
