Year 5
Welcome to Year 5 at Highfields Primary School
If you need to see your child’s teacher, please make an appointment by contacting the school office.
This is where you will find all the information you need to know about Year 5.
Year 5 is a busy and exciting year, which will be full of new challenges and experiences, visits and the chance to take on different responsibilities.
During the autumn term, our history focus is Ancient Egypt, so we will discover what life was like around 5,000 years ago in this part of the world.
Remember, it's really important to be at school every day, on time and ready to learn.

What to expect in Year 5.
Year 5 is a year to embed and build on the knowledge learnt in lower Key Stage 2 and also to start the preparations for transition to secondary school.
Children in Year 5 are increasingly encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning: to do their homework, to pack their school bag, to remember which days they have PE.
It is about encouraging independence, maturity and confidence.
