At Highfields we offer a wide range of extra curricular musical opportunities. We provide one to one music tuition for a range of instruments as well as musical groups such as our school band, choir and recorder ensembles.
Our school KS2 choir is available for all children in Year 3 -6 on a Monday from 3.15-3.45pm. The children love the opportunity to sing as a group and learn songs with different parts and actions. We have so many keen singers that those showing particular flair have also been encouraged to sing more challenging pieces in an extra group called Mini Girl's Vocal.
Individual music lessons are offered to children in Year 3-6. We offer music lessons in Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Trumpet, Piano, Singing and Drums. As children progress with their ability they are invited to join our KS2 school band, this is on a Thursday morning before school.
Individual music lessons cost £75.00 a term for 10 lessons each week for 15 minutes. You will need to make your own arrangements for your child to have use of an instrument, Essex Music Services or Manns Music have an excellent hire scheme.
If you are in receipt of Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance, Working Tax Credit or Child Tax Credit (subject to certain criteria) then you may be entitled to and should apply for Instrumental Tuition Discount which is £50.00 per term towards the cost of the lessons.
If you are interested in your child joining any of these opportunities please contact Lou Riddlestone in the school office on 01206 392223 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.

Children get chance to start to play a Trumpet, Clarinet or Flute during this time which enhances the music provision in our school.
Small group lessons are offered to the children at a later date with a subsidized cost if they wish to continue with progression on either the Flute, Trumpet or Clarinet.
