Ofsted Quotes

'In Key Stage 1, inspection evidence demonstrates that pupils currently make considerable and sustained progress from their individual starting points.'

(Taken from Ofsted report 2016)

'Phonics is taught exceptionally well. teachers expertly model the techniques that they expect pupils to use. Due to the teacher's enthusiasm and use of interesting teaching strategies, pupils demonstrated great confidence when successfully sounding out unfamiliar words. The pupils' delight at their achievements was clearly evident.'

Welcome to Years 1 and 2

We hope you have all had a lovely summer holiday – we look forward to sharing all the exciting stories!

The children have returned keen and eager to learn, with positive attitudes and smiles on their faces.

Please remember that your child needs to come into the school building by themselves, between 8.40am and 8.50am. Any messages can be given to the ladies on the door or a note popped into their book bags/folders. School for KS1 finishes at 3pm, please make sure you are there to collect your child at that time, and give us a big wave to make yourself known to the new class teacher. If for any reason you are running late please phone the school office to let them know. If your child is being picked up by another adult you must write a note to let us know. Your child will need to have named water bottles in school each day. Please remember to name all uniform and PE kits. PE kits will need to be in school every day as PE days will vary. These will be sent home at the end of each half term to be washed. Please refer to the uniform and PE policy for full list of uniform or ask your child’s teacher.

This term we will focus on exciting journey of ‘The Mayflower’. We aim to have a mixture of visitors and visits to help enhance the learning and experiences of your child. We are always grateful of the voluntary contributions of parents towards the cost of the trips as otherwise these would not be able to go ahead. We will keep you informed of any plans that are made.

In school we have a high expectation of presentation and taking a pride in all that we do. We expect this to be maintained at home, during their home learning activities. Please support your child in their completion of any tasks sent home. These will need to be completed each week, in pencil. Please remind your child to include capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. It is also important that your child uses their neatest handwriting.

Please find below documentation regarding expectations for this year. We will be holding a meeting for both year groups early in this term to explain these in more detail and to answer any questions you may have.
